What we love about Chuze Fitness
It honestly feels like you should be paying more for your membership. Yes, Chuze's value is really that good.While they may not have invented the HVLP (high-value-low-price) gym model, they're doing their best job in leading the category.
Plethora of amenities, available at a majority of their locations. We're fans of their medium to large sized gyms at an average of 32,280 square feet.
Clean, well-maintained, up-to-date gyms: Chuze makes this a priority. We hear this from our industry connections plus sifting through hundreds of their ratings and reviews.
Chuze is moving east! They've acquired 16 Bailey's locations around Jacksonville, Florida—bringing this fantastic gym to the Atlantic. We expect those clubs to be refreshed and brought to Chuze standards in the coming years.
What we wish Chuze Fitness would improve
Chuze Fitness already offers an immense selection of amenities and services. But, we can still name a few things we'd like to see from this popular gym chain.
There were Chuze clubs all over the nation! Seriously: they need to spread their business across the country. (April 2023: they've heading to Jacksonville, Florida!)
More of their locations had basketball. Just 12% of their gyms—exactly 7 of them, have the amenity.
Only 19 gyms at Chuze have Olympic lifting stations. That feels low! The other 68% of locations deserve the popular amenity.
How much is Chuze Fitness?
Chuze Fitness is very competitive with their pricing, likely with a setup that'll fit your health journey. Here's what to expect:
- $9.99 to $15.99/month "Basic" membership - Access to a single gym. You'll get all the basics for a great workout: cardio, strength machines and weights. Many include their functional turf zone at this price. This is a 12-month contract, add $4 if you want month-to-month
- $24.99 to $26.99/month "Premium membership - Access to all gyms. In addition to the above, most locations will give you unlimited group fitness, tanning, HydroMassage, sauna, steam and cycling. Some locations like Denver and El Paso give you a pool and hot tub.
- $29.99 to $32.99/month "More" membership - Access to all gyms. Usually you'll also get unlimited team training, body scans, and unlimited guests (who can use the Basic amenities).
- $29.99 to $49.99/month "Chuze Max" membership - It'll have all of the above, plus no limit Kids Club. This membership isn't available at all locations, of course.
Annual fee for Chuze is $49.99, billed 45 days after your initial sign-up. This amount stayed consistent for all the gyms we looked at.
Enroll fees are... $0? Well, we must have checked during a nationwide promo period because not once did we see a charge for this.During sign-up, you do have to pay your first months dues, it's not prorated.
A word about Chuze in Georgia and Florida (near Jacksonville): They purchased a chain called Bailey's in April of 2023. We've noticed they started to update those gyms plus website, and finally streamlined the pricing. These clubs have similar structure to original Chuze clubs. TheJacksonville Beachlocation:
- $24.99/month Premium Baileys - Single club
- $34.99/month More Baileys - All Clubs - You also get team training, tanning and hydromassage
- $49.99/month Max Baileys - All Clubs - Unlimited guests and kids club.
All ex Bailey's gyms are open 24/7, have WiFi, olympic free weights, group fitness classes and indoor cycling classes.
The Chuze annual fee is $49.99. You'll be charged 45 days after your initial sign-up.
We didn't see a single enrollment fee at Chuze. Well, they were all listed at $0. We must have checked during a nationwide promo.

History
Of all the gym chains we follow, Chuze does the best job inrecounting their story—and sticking to it. The original founders—Nick and Cory, alongside brother-in-law Kris—dreamt of a inclusive and welcoming gym. Chatting on their surfboards outside San Diego, their journey began as their first location opened up in Carlsbad in 2008.
Their aim was a customer-first, squeaky clean, friendly atmosphere gym... Which is a reputation that sticks to this day. Now with over 60 gyms in 6 states, we are rooting for their growth. We're big fans of their attitude, amenities, ethos and vibe—all fitness owners should take note. Chuze is an exciting gym chain that has much to offer!

There are 3-4 main pricing tiers that nearly all gyms across the country fall into. Generally, higher prices = more amenities and services.
$10 - $25 /month — Value
- Standard/basic equipment

- Various free-weights, strength machines
$15 - $30 /month — High Value Low Price
- All the above, plus a few have saunas or pools
- Massage and/or Tanning options
- Expect newer style amenities like Olympic lifting platforms, functional turf and cardio cinema.
$25 - $65 Monthly — Mid-Tier
- All the above, placed in larger facilities and spaces. Pools, saunas and steam are a must.
- Basketball courts and childcare were the main amenities.
- These are your "older"more aged "big-box" gyms, often with hundreds of locations spanning the country
